Welcome to St Lawrence's Anglican Church Website St Lawrence’s church is made up of ordinary people who are far from perfect.  If you join us you might even be surprised by our ordinariness.  We wrestle with the same stresses and strains that all people experience, however, we are confident that God works out his purposes in every circumstance of life for those who love him.  This makes a profound difference to the way we cope with life with all its ‘ups and downs’. St Lawrence’s is much more than a programme of activities.  We are people who have come to know God.  We know God because his son, Jesus Christ died on the cross for us, to bring us back to God. The death of Jesus is not only the means of enjoying and engaging with God, the life and death of Jesus is also our model for living.  Our aim is to be like him - a servant.  We do this because he first loved us and gave his life for us. We believe that God has not left us to struggle on in this life alone.  He has given us his Spirit to help us know him and serve him.  Living to serve others is not natural or instinctive to us, in fact, we find that it goes right against our human nature to truly love and serve others – especially our enemies – as Christ taught us, however, the wonder of the Christian life is that God gives to us his Holy Spirit.  Although we are often slow to respond, the work of God’s Spirit is to help us be like Christ. People of all ages come along each week to our activities to hear the bible read and explained, sing uplifting songs, pray and meet with friends to encourage one another.  We have two Sunday morning church services – 8.30am is a more traditional style of service with Holy Communion while our largest gathering for adults and families is at 10.15am. Our evening service is called City Network Church.  Each week small groups meet in homes for friendship, bible study and exploration of the Christian faith.
